On September 23, we welcomed around 60 guests to our conference room in Berlin Kreuzberg. Another 60 viewers joined the event online.
The keynote was given by Michael Schießl, CEO and co-founder of eye square. For him, perception is the starting point for lasting relationships and in his talk, he discussed the possibility of predicting human perception with artificial intelligence. His conclusion: "There is a potential for neural networks. But they have problems mimicking human perception because humans are driven by feelings and thoughts."
Artificial intelligence and human experience in a coming AI society was the topic of the presentation by Willi Schroll, a foresight expert from Berlin. In the afternoon, Dr. Mateusz Bonecki, CIO of the technology company DAC, elaborated further on that topic. For him, AI systems are autonomous, knowledge-generating agents and have more in common with scientific discovery than with teacher-guided education.
From theory to practice: Gesa Lischka from the Kochstrasse agency describes in a humorous lecture with striking visualization how the human brain ticks and how decisions are made in milliseconds. Gesa showed how implicit belief can be translated into logo design in a design case study.
Olaf Schlesiger, Head of Research of the television genre initiative Screenforce, presented the study "Track the Success" conducted with eye square. The study took a close look at how moving image advertising works in different environments, be it Facebook, YouTube, or TV.
Two further practical examples come from the field of UX research. Kristin Driemeier from About You presented a study on shopper behavior together with Dr. Julia Nitschke from eye square. Kira Süß, product manager and UX strategist at BVG, showed how the website of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe has been optimized to user needs in a user-centered approach.
Finally, eye square employees presented the latest developments and research topics. Almost a year ago, we founded the "Tribes" at eye square. These interdisciplinary teams bring together research and expertise from the company's fields of competence and produce innovations:
Dr. Matthias Rothensee presented the company's SPARK platform. With DAC as a partner, an automation platform for various market research tools has been developed. Dr. Jan-Michael Kühn presented the System 0 app, which can be used by study participants in the most natural environment. The entire course of the decision-making process is then recorded with all clicks and, in addition, facial expressions with Face Emotion Tracking. The Sustainability Tribe was presented by Katharina Tanneberger from the Shopping Unit. Here, a wide variety of studies on the topic of sustainability are combined.
